Healthy Community Alliance

The Healthy Community Alliance was chartered in 1996 as a non-profit corporation built upon the philosophies of the Healthcare Forum. It operates with ongoing assistance from the New York State Department of Health.  
Hinsdale Central School After-School Tutoring Program Hinsdale Central School is a small rural school approximately 6 miles north of Olean. Interns run an after school program. A team of interns runs a 2.5 hour ( 3:00 to 5:30 p.m.) after-school program four days per week (Monday – Thursday) for children grades 5-8. There are two teams – a Monday/Wednesday Team and a Tuesday/Thursday Team. Tutoring occurs in all subject areas. The interns also organize games and activities for the students. The program is small and offers a 1 to 5 intern to student ratio, so there are many opportunities to build good relationships with the Hinsdale students.
Immanuel Christian Child Care

Immanuel Christian Child Care is located within Immanuel Lutheran Church on N. 4 th Street in Olean. It serves 68 children ages infant through 12 years of age.

The Daycare Center at Immanuel Lutheran Church offers marketing, public relations, accounting and education internships. They currently are working on curriculum development and are seeking someone to assist with this sizable project.
Interfaith Caregivers Interfaith Caregivers through its volunteers provides transportation for medical purposes such as doctor or pharmacy visits, as well as respite care on a limited basis, telephone reassurance and services to the blind and visually impaired.  
Journey Project Marketing and Development Team The Journey Project’s goal is to assist students, faculty and staff in exploring a sense vocation, or calling. This is done through a variety of programs and initiatives. A team of students will work together, under the direction of Mike Williams, Director of the Journey Project, to build on-campus awareness of the Journey Project and to develop and begin to implement a long-term marketing strategy.
Literacy Volunteers of America The Literacy Volunteers of America is located in the Olean Public Library and aims to increase literacy in Cattaraugus County through the use of trained volunteers.

Literacy Volunteers offers a variety of placements. An intern could work on marketing and public relations for the organization, run computer tutoring sessions or be a literacy counselor.

Mental Health Association The Mental Health Association, located in Olean, is dedicated to promoting mental health and recovery. The internship is a spring and/or summer internship. It involves planning and facilitating Camp New Horizons, a summer camp for boys and girls ages 8 to 15. All of the camp participants are referred to the camp due to behavioral and/or emotional disabilities. Interns are responsible for researching and interviewing potential campers. Other duties would include recruiting and interviewing potential counselors and helping with office work as needed.
