If you think the Journey Project sounds right for you check out the internship opportunities available

Service Internships

Open to all sophomore, junior and senior students, this is one of our most popular programs. The program requires students to work 50-100 hours per semester at a local non-profit organization, parish or public school, performing work related to their major or area of professional interest. The Journey Project pays interns $6.50/hour and requires interns to meet in groups of eight to twelve for “reflection sessions.” Under the leadership of a faculty or staff mentor, reflection groups discuss and process their internship experience. The sessions help them extrapolate from their experiences broader issues of justice, faith and values clarification from their experiences.

Parish Internships

Open to all sophomore, junior and senior students, this is our oldest and longest running program. This program requires students to work 50-100 hours per semester at a local parish or church community performing tasks that support faith, social justice, peace and environment. Interns will also meet bi-weekly in groups of eight to twelve for “reflection sessions.” Under the leadership of a faculty or staff mentor, reflection groups discuss and process their internship experience. The sessions help them extrapolate from their experiences broader issues of justice, faith and values clarification from their experiences.

Department-Based Internships

Open to all undergraduates, this internship provides an opportunity for students to create a specific internship to fit their needs in an academic department. Internships should promote vocational discernment, an ethic of service and habits of self-reflection. These internships should also go beyond the traditional goals of an internship to help the student develop valuable skills and job networking habits.

Summer internships

During the summer months of May-July, ten students may have the opportunity to further their search for vocation through one of two options:

  • A local internship placement with one of various non-profit organizations such as Canticle Farm, Pfeiffer Nature Center's Camp Typnahdi, The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department, and others. Reflection group meetings are a mandatory part of this option.
  • Propose an off campus internship that you feel will connect with your academic goals and serve a non-profit or government agency in need. You are responsible for coming up with a personal reflection component
